Delmarva Foundation Awarded U.S. Senate Productivity Award
Easton-based healthcare organization serves two-thirds of nation

2005 U.S. Senate Productivity Award WinnerEaston, MD, March 28, 2006 - Delmarva Foundation, a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving healthcare, was recognized yesterday as the winner of the 2005 U. S. Senate Productivity Award, Maryland’s most prestigious award for organizational performance excellence. The award is given to organizations deemed worthy of emulation throughout Maryland.

Senators Paul S. Sarbanes and Barbara A. Mikulski announced the award Monday at the annual Maryland Performance Excellence Awards Ceremony held at the University of Maryland, College Park.

“I extend my heartiest congratulations to the staff of Delmarva Foundation for this outstanding and distinguished recognition,” said Senator Sarbanes. “Improving healthcare quality is a key ingredient in helping to keep healthcare costs down and enabling our aging population to access improved healthcare so they can live longer and fuller lives. Delmarva Foundation is helping to lead the way in these endeavors, as evidenced by its receipt of the U.S. Senate Productivity Award.”

Since 1983, Maryland’s U.S. Senators have honored the quality, productivity, and business achievements of Maryland organizations by presenting the Senate Productivity Awards.

“We are honored to receive this award,” said Maulik Joshi, DrPH, President and CEO of Delmarva Foundation. “This recognition is testament to the incredible dedication and talent of every Delmarva Foundation employee and the privilege we have in working with our customers and partners,” added Joshi.

About the Maryland Performance Excellence Award
Since 1983, Maryland's U.S. Senators have honored the quality, productivity and business achievements of Maryland organizations by presenting the Senate Productivity Awards for Maryland. In 1997, we built on these prestigious awards by creating the 1997 Maryland Quality Awards—a new and expanded recognition and learning process for leading Maryland organizations. Both the Senate Productivity and Maryland Quality Awards are offered through the Maryland Performance Excellence Awards Program, part of the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute at the University of Maryland. The purpose of the awards program is two-fold. First, the awards identify, recognize, and spotlight role model organizations whose performance is worthy of emulation.  Second, the award application process encourages organizations to learn and improve.
