Consumer Medicare Resources
Your
Rights
If
you have Medicare, you have certain guaranteed rights.
The right to:
- Receive the care
you need.
- Be fully informed
about what is covered under Medicare and what you have to pay.
- Be involved in
decisions made about your care.
- Receive emergency
care.
- Know how your
Medicare health plan pays its doctors.
- Question decisions
you think aren't in your best interest. In fact, such decisions can
be reconsidered by another medical expert if you wish.
A complete, detailed
list of your Medicare rights and protections is contained in the Medicare
Handbook. You can order the most current Medicare Handbook by calling 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), or visit www.medicare.gov.
What
can you do if you disagree with the decisions being made about your
healthcare, or if you feel you are not receiving the care you are entitled
to?
Talk to your doctor
and share your concerns. Ask specific questions. If you are still not
satisfied with the decisions made or the answers you receive, Delmarva
Foundation can help you. We
want to help you take full advantage of your rights as a Medicare member.
